[Financial News] Colleagues and juniors continued to pay their respects at the wake of the late actor Choi Bool-am (born Choi Young-han) on the afternoon of the 30th.
That afternoon, actors Lee Bo-hee and Song Seung-hwan visited the wake at the funeral hall of Asan Medical Center in Songpa-gu, Seoul, to pay tribute to the deceased. Former People Power Party lawmaker In Yo-han also paid his respects. Song Seung-hwan had appeared with the deceased in the MBC children’s drama “Run, Three Musketeers,” which aired from 1976 to 1977.
Earlier that day, actors Kim Hye-soo, Na Moon-hee and Cha In-pyo also visited the wake to pay their final respects. As figures from across society, including the cultural and arts communities and politics, continued to visit, tributes to the deceased poured in.
Choi Bool-am began his acting career in 1959 with the play “Hamlet.” He earned the public’s affection over many years for his roles as Chief Park Young-han in MBC’s “Chief Detective” and Chairman Kim of Yangchon-ri in “Country Diaries.”
From 2011 through last year, he hosted KBS 1TV’s “Korean Cuisine and Dining,” showcasing food from across the country and the lives of its people. Away from broadcasting, he also devoted himself to supporting children in Korea and abroad as chairman of ChildFund Korea’s National Supporters’ Association.
The government posthumously awarded him the Geumgwan Order of Cultural Merit in recognition of his contributions to the development of popular culture through 67 years of acting.
The deceased passed away on the 29th while receiving inpatient treatment at a hospital in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. He was 87. His five-day funeral will be held under ChildFund Korea’s auspices.
The funeral procession is scheduled for around 7:40 a.m. on November 2. A funeral Mass will be held at Yeouido Catholic Church at around 9 a.m. that day, followed by a farewell at ChildFund Korea headquarters at around 10:40 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Donghwa Gyeongmo Park in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
