[Financial News] SK hynix invited executives from around 20 major local partners in Japan to share its business status, mid- to long-term business direction and key technology roadmaps. The aim was to help its partners secure facility investments and production capacity in advance to meet future semiconductor demand, and to enhance the stability of Japan’s local supply chain.
SK hynix said on the 30th that it had held a Partners Day with key local partners in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, on the 29th. This was the first time SK hynix had invited executives from major partners in Japan to a Partners Day event.
Around 20 local partner companies attended, including materials companies such as Shin-Etsu, SUMCO and JSR; equipment companies such as Tokyo Electron (TEL) and SCREEN Holdings; and back-end process and testing companies such as Disco and Advantest Corporation.
Senior SK hynix executives in attendance included Lee Byung-gi, chief production officer (CPO); Kang Yu-jong, head of the purchasing division and a vice president; and Choi Woo-jin, head of the P&T division and a vice president.
SK hynix plans to continue strengthening the stability of Japan’s local supply chain through close communication.
Lee, the chief production officer, said, “Korea and Japan have a complementary relationship,” adding, “The capabilities of Japanese partners are a key factor in strengthening SK hynix’s technological competitiveness, so we will expand cooperation to help the semiconductor ecosystems of both countries grow together.”
Hiroshi Ishida, a vice president and COO of Tokyo Electron, said, “Sharing mid- to long-term roadmaps with SK hynix early and maintaining close dialogue at the management level provide a strong foundation for technology development and investment decisions.”
