[Financial News] The Samsung Electronics Labor Union Donghaeng (Donghaeng Union), whose core members are employees of Samsung Electronics' Device eXperience (DX) Division, will hold a large-scale rally at the Suwon site in Gyeonggi Province on the 5th of next month, with compensation issues and next year's joint bargaining on the agenda.
According to industry sources on the 30th, Donghaeng Union plans to hold a rally on November 5 at the Suwon site, where Samsung Electronics' headquarters is located. The union estimates turnout at 10,000.
Employee compensation issues and joint bargaining in 2027 are expected to be key items on the rally's agenda.
Tensions among unions at Samsung Electronics over bargaining control have recently intensified ahead of next year's wage and collective bargaining negotiations.
The Samsung branch of the Samsung Group Enterprise Union, centered on the Device Solutions (DS) Division responsible for semiconductors, expects to become the representative union during the process of consolidating bargaining channels this December. On the 15th, it asked Donghaeng Union and the National Samsung Electronics Union to submit their demands for next year's negotiations in writing. The two unions, however, said it was inappropriate for a particular union to gather proposals on the assumption that it held representative status when no representative union had yet been designated.
Positions are also sharply divided over joint bargaining. The Enterprise Union plans to reorganize around the DS Division and negotiate separately from the DX Division in next year's wage talks. Donghaeng Union, on the other hand, says the voices of DX Division employees were not adequately reflected in the wage negotiations concluded in May this year, and is calling for a joint bargaining team to be formed so it can take part in negotiations alongside the DS Division next year.
