SH said on the 30th that it signed an agreement (MOU) with Korea Gas Safety Corporation on the 29th for a free distribution program for boiler flue-pipe detachment prevention devices.
The agreement was drawn up to prevent carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning incidents at the source—incidents caused by flue pipes becoming detached due to boiler vibrations or external impacts—as the use of gas boilers surges in winter.
Under the agreement, the two organizations plan to put in place a comprehensive gas-safety cooperation system, including proactively identifying public housing households with safety-management vulnerabilities and providing and installing boiler flue-pipe detachment prevention devices free of charge. In particular, SH plans to complete the program promptly before the winter season, ahead of the onset of this winter’s cold, eliminating blind spots in gas safety and further strengthening a prevention-focused housing safety net.
SH President Hwang Sang-ha emphasized, “A boiler flue pipe becoming detached can potentially lead directly to a major accident, including loss of life, so thorough prevention in advance is more important than anything else,” adding, “We will work closely with Korea Gas Safety Corporation to thoroughly narrow the blind spots in safety management so public housing residents can spend a warm winter with peace of mind.”
