【Financial News, Jeonju = Kang In】 Hyundai Motor Group has opened a Saemangeum office in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province, setting a large-scale investment project in motion.
The opening ceremony for Hyundai Motor Group’s Saemangeum Office was held on the 30th at Tech Biz Plaza of the Automotive Convergence Technology Institute in Gunsan.
The Saemangeum Office will serve as a field office, reviewing pending issues related to Saemangeum projects and acting as a bridge for consultations with the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, the Saemangeum Development and Investment Agency (SDIA) and other organizations.
Earlier, Hyundai Motor Company signed an “Investment Agreement for Promoting Advanced Robot and Hydrogen Industries in Saemangeum and Developing an AI Hydrogen City” with the government and Jeonbuk Province this past February.
Under the agreement, projects worth nearly 9 trillion won will be carried out in phases in Saemangeum starting this year. They include an AI data center, a robot manufacturing and parts cluster, a water electrolysis plant, solar power generation, and the development of an AI hydrogen city.
The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province plans to strengthen its coordination with Hyundai Motor Group following the office’s opening, share progress on major projects and on-site developments, and support the investment’s smooth implementation.
Lee Won-taek, governor of Jeonbuk Province, said, “We will provide all necessary administrative support so companies can focus on their investments, and be a steadfast partner in ensuring that investment results lead to local jobs and business growth.”
