[Financial News] The Seoul Metropolitan Government has selected 110 fall foliage routes with a combined length of 167 kilometers, so residents can enjoy the autumn colors around the city. Foliage that began turning around Bukhansan is expected to peak from late this month through early to mid-next month. On the 30th, the city said it would provide information on the 110 spots, grouped into four categories—roadsides, riversides, parks and walking trails—through the Seoul Metropolitan Government website and Smart Seoul Map.
Along the selected routes, visitors can enjoy autumn scenery created by a variety of tree species, including ginkgo, zelkova, Yoshino cherry and metasequoia trees.
Samcheong-dong-gil, Deoksugung-gil and Itaewon-ro were among the places recommended for a walk through the city center while enjoying the fall foliage. Jungnangcheon Embankment Road and the Uicheon riverside were selected as good places for a stroll along the water. Seoul Forest and Haneul Park were highlighted as park settings for viewing fall foliage, while Hangeul Monument Road and Walkerhill-ro were introduced as autumn walking routes.
Maeheon Citizens’ Forest, where this year’s Seoul International Garden Show was held, is expected to offer autumn scenery blending 51 gardens with a lush urban forest. The gardens, created jointly by artists, residents and businesses, bring together a variety of plants and fall foliage to offer a distinctive sight.
At World Cup Park, a 2.3-kilometer metasequoia-lined path connecting Haneul Park and Noeul Park stands out.
Walkerhill-ro in Gwangjin District is also a leading fall foliage walking route, with a tunnel of autumn leaves unfolding along a wooden boardwalk that runs from Achasan Ecological Park to Walkerhill Hotel.
The exact locations of the fall foliage routes and the features of each course can be found on the Seoul Metropolitan Government website and Smart Seoul Map. The city’s website offers recommended spots by theme and district, along with the reasons for their selection, while Smart Seoul Map uses icons to show the routes’ locations and nearby information.
Kim Young-hwan, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Garden City Bureau, said, "I hope the autumn colors encountered on fall foliage routes close to home in the city will bring a small but warm comfort to residents amid their busy daily lives."
