The agreement was pursued to promote education and research in data science and artificial intelligence by drawing on the resources and expertise of both institutions, and to establish a framework for cooperation in training professionals in these fields.
Under the agreement, the two institutions agreed to use data held by each institution for educational and research purposes and to jointly undertake research projects related to data analysis and AI. They also agreed to jointly hold educational programs, seminars and academic events related to data science and artificial intelligence, and to foster personnel exchanges.
They also agreed to pursue joint development activities and pilot projects to apply data analysis and AI technologies in the museum sector.
If data needs to be provided and used, the two institutions agreed to separately determine matters such as the scope of provision, purpose of use, security and management in accordance with relevant laws and each institution’s regulations.
The National Maritime Museum is currently operating an AI and Digital Pilot Task Force and reviewing ways to introduce AI technologies across museum operations, including administrative work, exhibitions and education. Through this agreement, the museum plans to strengthen its cooperation with university research institutions and further enhance its expertise in data science and artificial intelligence.
Museum director Kim Jong-hae said, “With this agreement as an opportunity, we will promote joint research that brings together the expertise of the two institutions and ensure that its results lead to services visitors can experience. We will also identify practical models for applying artificial intelligence technologies across museum operations, including exhibitions and education.”
