[Financial News] Kim Seong-woo, 26, a social service worker accused of killing his mother-in-law and abducting his wife while divorce proceedings were underway, has also been referred to prosecutors on suspicion of raping his wife before they married, it has emerged.
On the 30th, Suwon Gwonseon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province said it had referred Kim to the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office on the 27th on charges including rape resulting in injury and filming using a camera or similar device under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
Kim is accused of having sex with A without her consent and injuring her at a residence in Suwon in November last year, before they married. Investigators also found that Kim had filmed the incident.
They were dating at the time and registered their marriage in February this year.
Earlier, Kim was referred to the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office on suspicion of killing his mother-in-law, who was in her 50s. On the 11th of this month, at around 5:35 a.m., while a lawsuit to annul his marriage to A was underway, he went to his in-laws’ home in Songpa District and tried to forcibly take A away. He then stabbed and killed his mother-in-law as she shouted and tried to stop him.
Kim is also accused of forcing A into a car, taking her to a mountain area in Yangyang County, Gangwon Province, and confining her there. He reportedly stalked A a total of 18 times from September 16 to October 11, including by waiting near her in-laws’ home. He also reportedly stalked her nine times between August 22 and September 30, when the court had issued an interim order prohibiting him from approaching her.
Meanwhile, the Seoul Songpa Police Station, which investigated the killing of Kim’s mother-in-law and the abduction of his wife, is conducting a supplementary investigation at the request of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office.
