[Financial News] Kakao Mobility Corp. will receive a ministerial award for reducing the inconvenience users face when booking vehicle inspections. It was praised for improving booking success rates by introducing a feature that alerts users to real-time slots opened by cancellations, helping those who have difficulty scheduling appointments because inspection stations are fully booked.
According to industry sources on the 30th, Kakao Mobility Corp. will receive the top prize, the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award, at the “2026 Digital Service Opening Performance-Sharing Event” for its vehicle inspection booking service offered through Kakao T and Kakao Navi.
Digital Service Opening is a public-private partnership initiative that improves convenience by making services held by public institutions available through private-sector apps and websites that people use in their daily lives. Since being selected as a participating company in June 2023, Kakao Mobility Corp. has operated a vehicle inspection booking service in cooperation with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority (TS).
After registering their vehicle on Kakao T or Kakao Navi, users can do everything in one place, from checking whether the vehicle is due for inspection and receiving alerts to finding inspection stations, booking appointments and making payments.
The “Open Slot Alert” feature, which notifies users of real-time cancellations, was cited as a distinguishing factor in the award. Previously, when appointments for a desired date were fully booked, users had to search individually for another date or inspection station. Kakao Mobility Corp. has set up a real-time cancellation alert system to notify users of slots opened up by cancellations. Among users who accessed the service after receiving an alert, 72.5% successfully booked an appointment.
This exemplary case was selected following document screening, public evaluation and expert review. Chae In-gi, a director on Kakao Mobility Corp.’s Agent Business Team, is scheduled to present the service’s operational achievements and innovation case at the performance-sharing event, being held that day at voco Seoul Gangnam in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Kakao Mobility Corp. has expanded its service beyond cars to include bookings for regular two-wheeler inspections. Previously, two-wheeler owners could book regular inspections only through the TS Cyber Inspection Station. They can now also use Kakao T and Kakao Navi to check whether an inspection is due, book and pay for appointments at nearby inspection stations, and receive alerts about open slots.
