[Financial News] An animated campaign video made with the participation of Dongseo University students is being shown at major Busan Metro stations to promote the local performing arts scene.
Dongseo University said on the 30th that Red Cat Crew Co., Ltd., a company run by Professor Lee Jun-seok of the university’s Department of Video Animation, had produced two “Busan Metropolitan City Is on Stage” campaign videos with students.
The campaign expands the “Korea On Stage” initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Korea Arts Management Service, to the Busan region. It is organized by the Arts Distribution Support Team of the Busan Cultural Foundation.
The videos are being shown about 187 times a day on 106 screens installed at 23 stations on Busan Metro Lines 1 and 2, including Seomyeon, Sasang, Busan National University and Yeonsan. They introduce performances taking place throughout downtown Busan through approachable animation and invite citizens to attend.
The video features “Busan Magical Girl,” a character that is Red Cat Crew’s own intellectual property (IP) and was developed with support from Dongseo University, conveying Busan’s local character and the appeal of the performing arts.
Students who took part in the project gained practical experience by participating in every stage, from planning to production, and meeting the needs of actual public institutions and clients.
Professor Lee said, “When creative education at universities is connected to real-world settings outside campus, it yields meaningful results for both students and the local community. We will continue working with local cultural institutions to create opportunities for students to grow by producing actual works.”
