[Financial News] Tokenizing real-world assets is not technically difficult. The challenge is getting the market to trust that the assets represented by those tokens have real value and that the reserves actually exist. Hanwha Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. teamed up with global blockchain data infrastructure company Chainlink to address this trust problem. The company has decided to use Chainlink’s technology as the foundation for its own digital asset platform.
According to securities industry sources on the 30th, Hanwha Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. signed a strategic partnership with blockchain data infrastructure company Chainlink to build a global digital asset platform.
Headquartered in the United States, Chainlink is a global infrastructure company that delivers real-time financial data to blockchain systems and connects different blockchains. Major financial institutions and digital asset companies around the world use Chainlink’s technology to transparently verify asset values and securely transfer assets between networks.
Under the partnership, Hanwha Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. adopted Chainlink’s “data standard technology” and “cross-chain connectivity technology (CCIP, Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol)” as infrastructure for its digital asset platform, which is under development.
On this basis, the company plans to tokenize high-quality real-world assets for circulation in global markets and establish a foundation for verifying asset values and using the assets as collateral. It also plans to provide an environment where assets can be transferred through a single connection, without building separate integrations for each network.
To put their plans into action, the two companies will form a working group and pursue three initiatives. The first is to establish institutional on-chain infrastructure that meets compliance and custody requirements, along with a custody integration framework. The second is to set valuation and reserve verification standards for using real-world assets (RWA) as collateral. The third is to establish compliance and technical standards aligned with the institutionalization of token securities in Korea.
Ahn In-seong, vice president of the Digital Division at Hanwha Investment & Securities Co., Ltd., said, “Chainlink is a key strategic partner with whom we will open up a new financial market where high-quality assets are tokenized, issued and distributed in global markets, and used as collateral.” He added, “Through this partnership, Hanwha Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. will build an RWA market connecting Korea with global markets.”
