[Financial News] A passenger recounted that their puffer jacket, which they were wearing on Line 5 during the morning commute, was torn as if slashed with a sharp object.
According to News 1 and other outlets on the 30th, a post was uploaded to the social media platform Threads the previous day under the title, “It looks like someone slashed it with a knife on Line 5... I’m really getting chills”—a post with that title was uploaded.
The author, identified only as A, shared photos and said, “I took Line 5 today and had a really shocking experience. My puffer jacket, which had been perfectly intact, was torn open, spilling all of its filling, and even the knitwear I was wearing underneath had a hole in it.” The photos showed the outer shell of a black puffer jacket badly torn, with white filling spilling out, and a hole in part of the fabric of a blue knit sweater.
A said, “At first, I wondered if it had caught on something, but looking at the condition of the clothes, I suspect someone may have slashed them with a sharp object. The more I think about it, the more chilling it is—what if it had been my body instead of my clothes?”
A added, “It’s so frightening that something like this could happen on a crowded subway during the morning commute. If I report something like this to the police, can they check the CCTV?” A went on, “Everyone, be careful when you ride the subway. This really isn’t something that only happens to other people.”
People online who saw the account reacted with comments such as, “That’s chilling,” “I use Line 5, and this is so scary,” and “I’m glad no one was hurt.”
Some people online shared similar experiences, saying, “My puffer jacket once split open on the subway during the morning commute, too. When I took it in for repairs, they said it looked like someone had slashed it with something like a box cutter,” and, “I once had a long line slashed across my back.”
It has not been established whether someone deliberately slashed A’s clothes or whether they were torn after catching on another object while in transit.
