[Financial News] To mark the 10th anniversary of its incorporation in Korea, BYD Korea is holding a nationwide fuel-efficiency challenge offering a one-year test-drive pass for its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) sport utility vehicle (SUV), the SEALION 6 DM-i, as well as showroom experiences and online participation events.
On the 30th, BYD Korea said it would expand opportunities for customer engagement, from test drives that let customers assess vehicle performance and efficiency on real roads to experiences featuring popular content and online events.
The DM-i Nationwide Fuel-Efficiency Challenge is a program that lets customers experience BYD’s DM-i (Dual Mode-intelligence) plug-in hybrid technology firsthand. Customers drive the SEALION 6 DM-i on real roads to experience its driving characteristics and fuel efficiency. BYD Korea said customers can also experience the economy and ride comfort of its electric-motor-based hybrid technology.
The DM-i Nationwide Fuel-Efficiency Challenge will be held in stages at showrooms in major regions across the country from Nov. 6 to 22. Customers can participate by registering at least five days before the event at each showroom. The customer who records the best fuel economy nationwide will receive a one-year test-drive pass for the SEALION 6 DM-i.
A showroom experience program has also been prepared so that people can drop by without feeling pressured, even if they have no specific plans to buy. “PLOT TWIST READY,” created in collaboration with Netflix, will run from Nov. 7 to 29 at 38 BYD Auto showrooms nationwide. The ATTO 3 Plus will be themed around “Stranger Things,” the SEALION 6 DM-i around “Squid Game,” and the SEALION 7 around “Money Heist.”
Online, BYD Korea’s official Instagram account is running an interactive event through Nov. 6, offering test-drive passes and commemorative merchandise. BYD Korea has also partnered with used-car platform Encar to operate a special BYD brand section on Encar’s website through Nov. 24. The section provides information to help customers considering a used-car purchase explore BYD vehicles.
A BYD Korea representative said, “We were able to mark the 10th anniversary of our entry into Korea thanks to all the customers who have shown interest in and support for BYD over the years. We hope this program will convey our gratitude to customers and give them an opportunity to experience BYD’s technology and products at closer range.”
The representative added, “We will continue to introduce a variety of electrified products and customer experiences in the Korean market, listen to our customers, and build trust.”
BYD Korea also unveiled a logo and brand film commemorating the 10th anniversary of its incorporation. They reflect the company’s intention to advance toward eco-friendly mobility, drawing on the significance of its 10 years of business in Korea and its technological innovation. From January to September this year, BYD sold 20,137 passenger vehicles, a 578.7% increase from the same period last year.
