[Financial News] The Daesun Public Interest Foundation said on the 30th that it held the 2026 21st Daesun Social Worker Awards ceremony on the afternoon of the 29th at Daesun Distilling’s Gijang plant.
About 150 people attended, including the award recipients, the heads of the social workers’ associations in Busan, Ulsan and Gimhae, and Jo Seong-je, chairman of the Daesun Public Interest Foundation.
The Daesun Social Worker Awards are a social contribution program that the Daesun Public Interest Foundation has run jointly with social workers’ associations in Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam since 2007. The awards were established to recognize social workers who dedicate themselves to the region’s vulnerable communities and the public good, and to support the provision of high-quality welfare services.
This year, a total of 102 social workers received awards: 53 in Busan, 35 in Ulsan and 14 in Gyeongnam, including three Special Award recipients, with honors including the grand prize, gold and silver awards. Introduced last year, the Special Award was established to honor the noble dedication and contributions of those who have served as role models for society.
“I am deeply grateful to the award recipients for their positive influence on the local community,” said Jo Seong-je, chairman of the Daesun Public Interest Foundation. “Even as the welfare environment changes rapidly with the introduction of AI and other developments, we will be the most reliable and flexible support for social workers.”
The Daesun Public Interest Foundation is Busan’s first private public-interest foundation. It was established in 2005 with a full investment of 4 billion won from Daesun Distilling, a leading local company in Busan that marks its 96th anniversary this year, as part of the company’s ESG management. The foundation carries out a range of social contribution activities, including scholarships for social welfare majors, the Daesun Social Worker Awards, and free meals for local communities facing food insecurity.
