On the 30th, 42dot announced that it would offer the first over-the-air software update (OTA) for Gleo AI, its in-car voice AI agent based on a large language model (LLM). 42dot said the update incorporates customer feedback and improves frequently used in-car features, including navigation integration and calling and texting.
Gleo AI is a voice AI agent that 42dot first introduced in May through Hyundai Motor Company's The New Grandeur. This update will be delivered via Hyundai Motor Company's Pleos Connect OTA.
Search capabilities integrated with navigation have been enhanced. When users ask by voice for a place while driving, Gleo AI uses an LLM to understand their intent and context and find places that are convenient to visit along the actual route. For places where easy access nearby is important, such as rest areas, gas stations and restrooms, it considers the user's current location and distance to suggest suitable options, even without additional criteria. Drivers can search for places and receive directions using only their voice, without separately operating the navigation system while driving, and can even set a destination.
When users search for a gas station, the system also provides prices by fuel type. If there are multiple waypoints in the navigation route, it provides information on all the locations and the remaining travel time. The audio playback logic has been refined so music requested via Bluetooth plays smoothly depending on the connection status.
The convenience and safety of in-car communication features have also been improved. A new on-device feature uses Gleo AI's text-to-speech (TTS) engine to read messages aloud when users issue a voice command to read a text. Voice commands from rear-seat passengers to make calls or send texts are restricted to prevent unintended activation.
Based on feedback from The New Grandeur customers, 42dot has incorporated technologies to enhance Gleo AI's functionality and quality into this OTA. The company plans to continue incorporating updates through OTAs, focusing on features customers use frequently.
A 42dot representative said, "The update will begin rolling out over the air for The New Grandeur," adding, "Once the latest Pleos Connect software is deployed, the OTA can be completed without visiting a service center by following the instructions displayed when the vehicle is started."
