[Financial News] Jun Young-hyun, vice chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and head of the Device Solutions (DS) Division, called for stronger semiconductor technological competitiveness and quality to achieve an “unassailable lead,” saying the market boom had helped the company post record results. Roh Tae-moon, president and head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division, also stressed securing future growth engines by fostering new AI businesses and innovating work practices.
■ Jun Young-hyun: “An unassailable lead comes from technological competitiveness and quality”

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. said on the 30th that, ahead of its 57th anniversary on November 1, Vice Chairman Jun said in his commemorative address, “Although our recent results have improved, it is difficult to say that our technological competitiveness has fully recovered.” He urged employees, saying, “This is a time to take a clear-eyed look at our current reality and competitiveness and prepare for the future, rather than celebrate results driven by market conditions fueled by AI growth.”
In particular, Vice Chairman Jun emphasized that much of the improvement in results was due to the market boom and cautioned against letting their guard down. He identified building a business structure that is not swayed by market conditions, strengthening technological and quality competitiveness, and innovating work practices as key tasks.
He stressed, “No one can guarantee how long the market boom will last, and external challenges are growing more intense. The true competitiveness of a semiconductor company comes from technology and quality that others cannot easily match. We must not lose sight of the fundamentals of the semiconductor industry: securing next-generation technological competitiveness, advancing manufacturing efficiency, ensuring perfect quality, and improving yields.”
Vice Chairman Jun reiterated, “An unassailable lead must be proven not through declarations or slogans, but through technological competitiveness and quality that no one can match and that customers recognize.”
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.’s semiconductor business continues to post record results, buoyed by growing demand for AI memory and increased sales of high-bandwidth memory (HBM). The DS Division recorded third-quarter operating profit of 106.5 trillion won, accounting for 99% of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.’s total operating profit.
Along with the message that relationships with customers must not be neglected during a boom, he also called for organizational culture reform. He outlined the five values upheld by the DS Division—customers, technology, collaboration, execution, and ethics—and emphasized collaboration across teams, transparent communication, and data-driven decision-making.
He also highlighted the importance of mutual growth with partner companies and compliance-based management. The aim, he said, is to solve technical challenges with business partners and ensure that the company’s success creates new opportunities for its partners and local communities as well.
Vice Chairman Jun urged employees, saying, “Today’s boom does not guarantee tomorrow’s competitiveness. We must stay true to the fundamentals of technology and quality, earn customers’ trust, and build competitiveness that remains resilient in any environment.”
■ Roh Tae-moon: “We must strengthen the fundamental competitiveness of our devices”

In his commemorative address, President Roh stressed securing new growth engines by leveraging AI technology and transforming the business. In particular, he called for strengthening market leadership by improving the fundamental competitiveness of the device business, including product excellence, quality, and operations.
President Roh emphasized, “We must strengthen the fundamentals—product excellence, quality, and reliability—to provide customers with the best AI experience, further improve our ability to proactively sense and manage the supply chain, and secure differentiated cost competitiveness. We must turn the powerful external headwinds we face into an opportunity to build fundamental competitiveness that sets us apart from competitors, and make it a springboard for taking the company’s performance to the next level when external conditions improve.”
President Roh also called for securing new growth opportunities through next-generation products—including intelligent eyewear, AI companion devices, AI TVs, and home appliances—to prepare and respond ahead of time in an era of transformation. He also emphasized fostering new businesses in robotics, HVAC, medical technology (medtech), and automotive electronics.
He also said the company should use AI to redesign eight major business processes, including sales and logistics, and transform itself into a world-leading “AI-native company.”
President Roh encouraged employees, saying, “The DX Division is currently facing challenging business conditions, but the sweat and effort we are putting in together now will provide a solid foundation for greater growth. Let’s pave the way for the DX Division’s future growth and advancement by securing fundamental competitiveness, preparing for the future and taking on challenges ahead of time, and fundamentally transforming the business through AX.”
