【Financial News, Andong = Kim Jang-wook, Reporter】Gyeongbuk Province is pulling out all the stops to expand its investment cooperation network linking domestic and international companies with investment institutions.
Gyeongbuk Province wrapped up the third edition of the 2026 Future Strategy Industrial Innovation Investment Forum, attended by around 300 people, including domestic and international companies, investment institutions, industry experts, and local government officials, in Seoul, Gimcheon, and Gumi from the 29th to the 30th. The program examined industry outlooks and investment strategies, focusing on semiconductors, drones, and future vehicles, and included investment presentations by promising companies, one-on-one investment consultations, and visits to industrial sites.
This forum was the final event in the “Post-APEC Gyeongbuk Province Investment Forum,” which carried the success of hosting last year’s APEC Summit through to attracting investment in the region.
Following an August forum on secondary batteries and future vehicles, and October forums on machinery parts and defense, and on bio and food, this time the province focused on attracting investment in semiconductors, drones, and future vehicles.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo emphasized, “For companies to invest and grow in a region, a network that connects businesses and people is of utmost importance, alongside industrial infrastructure and technological capabilities. We will actively support efforts to ensure the partnerships built with domestic and international companies and investment institutions through the three investment forums lead to actual investment and job creation.”
He added, “We will make Gyeongbuk a place that stands with businesspeople from the province living elsewhere, from their investment decisions through to settling in the region, so they can find new growth opportunities in their hometown.”
On the 29th, the province held an industry vision forum at LOTTE HOTELS & RESORTS in Seoul, examining changes in the global environment surrounding the semiconductor, drone, and future vehicle industries and investment opportunities in Gyeongbuk.
The province, Gimcheon-si, and Gumi introduced the region’s industrial infrastructure and investment environment. Woojin Sanjeon in Gimcheon and Shinbo Korea in Gumi presented case studies of investments in local production hubs, sharing their investment decision-making processes and experiences of settling in the region.
One-on-one investment and business consultations between domestic and international companies and investment institutions continued in the afternoon. The province supported efforts to ensure the consultations led not only to investment attraction but also to technology cooperation and the identification of joint projects.
That evening, the “Gyeongbuk Businesspeople’s Night” was also held, attended by around 300 people, including Governor Lee, businesspeople from Gyeongbuk based in the Seoul metropolitan area, leading regional companies, and representatives from academia, business associations, and investment institutions.
The Businesspeople’s Night was organized to bring together businesspeople from Gyeongbuk and those who graduated from universities in the region to strengthen their ties to their hometown and find investment opportunities that would drive both business growth and regional development.
Meanwhile, the province plans to continue managing investment needs and collaborative projects between companies identified at the forum, and to leverage its network with domestic and international companies to increase tangible investment results.
