According to the organization on the 30th, a ceremony appointing Ahn Se-kwon as an ambassador was held at its headquarters in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, on the 29th. Chairman Choi Chang-nam, Ahn and others attended the event, which included the signing of an appointment agreement, remarks, and congratulatory performances.
Ahn has taken part in overseas child sponsorship through the organization and, since May last year, has been paired with a child in Myanmar and continued providing support.
Overseas child sponsorship connects a child with a sponsor on a one-to-one basis to provide support for education, healthcare, nutrition and other needs. Donations fund regular health checkups, after-school classes and school supplies, as well as well construction and improvements to sanitation facilities.
Ahn made a name for himself with appearances on tvN's Korea's Got Talent 2 in 2012 and JTBC's Phantom Singer 2 in 2017. On Phantom Singer 2, he placed third overall as a member of the crossover group Edel Reinklang.
Going forward, he plans to take part in promotional activities for the organization's sponsorship campaigns and efforts to spread a culture of sharing, using music to raise awareness of support for children.
Ahn said, "Just as I have brought comfort and inspiration to many people through music, I now want to share the value of giving through my voice as well. I will continue to share my talents and experience, give sustained attention to children in need, and do my part to encourage more people to join in giving."
Chairman Choi Chang-nam said, "I am delighted to have tenor Ahn Se-kwon, who has consistently supported children with unwavering commitment, join us as an ambassador."
