【Financial News, Jeju = Reporter Jeong Yong-bok】 Rain of up to 30 mm is expected in Jeju from late Sunday afternoon, the first day of November. Saturday, the last day of October, will be mostly sunny, but temperatures will vary considerably between day and night, particularly in the mountain areas.
According to the Jeju Provincial Meteorological Administration on the 30th, Jeju will be mostly sunny on the 31st, with cloud cover increasing from evening. On November 1, skies will be cloudy, with rain starting in some areas between 3 and 6 p.m.
Rain is expected to continue in some areas until the morning of the 2nd. Expected rainfall from late afternoon until late night on the 1st is 5–30 mm.
This rain is part of a broader nationwide precipitation outlook. The Korean Meteorological Administration’s national forecast also called for rain in most areas on November 1. Expected rainfall in Jeju and Gwangju and South Jeolla is 5–30 mm, more than the 5–10 mm forecast for North Jeolla and the Gyeongsang region, among others.
Weekend temperatures will be near or slightly above the seasonal average, but people should be mindful of the day-night temperature swings. On the 31st, morning lows in Jeju are expected to be 12–17°C, with daytime highs of 20–22°C. Temperatures will range from 15–21°C in Jeju City, 14–22°C in Seogwipo City, 12–21°C in Seongsan, and 17–20°C in Gosan.
In the mountain areas, morning temperatures will fall to single digits. At Seongpanak on Hallasan, the morning low on the 31st is expected to be 8°C, with a daytime high of 16°C. Since temperatures will be lower than in the lowlands, visitors heading out for weekend hikes should take care to stay warm.
On November 1, the morning low is forecast to be 13–16°C, with a daytime high of around 21°C. As the rain clears on the 2nd, morning lows will be 17–19°C and daytime highs 19–22°C.
Winds will strengthen over the sea from Sunday, and waves will grow higher. Waves off Jeju Island are forecast to rise from 0.5–1.5 m on the 31st to a maximum of 2.5 m on November 1. In particular, winds of 8–13 m/s are forecast over waters around Jeju Island on the afternoon of the 1st.
Earlier, on the 30th, Jeju will be mostly cloudy before gradually clearing from the morning. Around 1 mm of rain is expected in some areas, mainly in the mid-mountain and mountain areas, through 9 a.m.
