‘Team Hee Joon Kim’ to Hold Drug Prevention Campaign in Hongdae Ahead of Halloween

[Financial News] LKB Pyeongsan LLC’s dedicated drug-case unit, ‘Team Hee Joon Kim for Drug Cases,’ will hold a drug prevention campaign on the streets of Hongdae ahead of Halloween.
LKB Pyeongsan LLC said on the 29th that the campaign will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the 30th around 41-1 Eoulmadang-ro in Mapo District, Seoul. It was jointly planned with the incorporated association Drug Addiction Prevention and Rehabilitation Center for Universities (DAPCOC, or Dapkok), and its slogan is ‘SAFE & SOBER HALLOWEEN.’ The aim is to alert young people to the dangers of drug addiction at a crowded venue and foster a festival culture that can be enjoyed without drugs.
The event will feature a drug prevention true-or-false quiz, a DJ performance and dance session, and messages promoting a life without drugs. It will also distribute materials outlining penalties for violations of the Narcotics Control Act and the risks of misusing or overusing prescription drugs. The materials will explain penalties for different offenses, including drug use, cannabis smoking, smuggling and dealing, and so-called ‘dropper’ part-time jobs involving drug transport. Information about a one-on-one counseling channel will also be provided.
Hee Joon Kim, CEO and attorney at LKB Pyeongsan LLC (22nd class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute), said, “Narcotics addiction is a brain disease that can begin with even a single use, so prevention before the golden window is missed is more important than anything else.” He added, “I will continue on-site campaigns to prevent young people from being exposed to drugs out of curiosity, ignorance or temptation, and to help establish a safe festival culture free of drugs.” Kim previously served as deputy chief prosecutor at the Gwangju District Prosecutors’ Office and chief of the Violent Crimes Division at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office. While a prosecutor, he uncovered GHB, a new drug that had not been known in South Korea, and coined the name ‘mulppong.’ He is also known as the real-life model for Netflix’s drama ‘Narco-Saints.’
LKB Pyeongsan LLC explained that Team Hee Joon Kim is made up of Kim and other attorneys who are former prosecutors specializing in the investigation of narcotics crimes. The team also provides drug prevention education and connects people with treatment and rehabilitation institutions, in addition to handling investigations and court proceedings.
