[Financial News] ‘2026 Busan Fashion Week’ opened on the 29th at the first exhibition hall of BEXCO in Busan.
The event is hosted by Busan Metropolitan City and organized by the Busan Textile and Fashion Industry Association.
Sponsored by the Korea Federation of Textile Industries, the event runs through the 31st.
During the event, Busan’s maritime culture is combined with fashion to showcase the capabilities of the region’s fashion industry.
Fifteen domestic fashion brands, including Lee Mi-kyung Boutique, four international brands, and next-generation designers from nine universities in Busan took part.
Over the course of the event, a total of 12 fashion shows, including brand collections and collaborative university fashion shows, will showcase designs by domestic and international brands and work by emerging designers.
A Busan Fashion Week representative said, “The event is meaningful as a global fashion platform that connects Busan’s maritime culture with its fashion industry and brings together domestic and international brands and next-generation designers,” adding, “We hope it will be an opportunity for citizens and tourists to experience Busan’s fashion industry and culture.”
Lee Mi-kyung, chief designer of Lee Mi-kyung Boutique and a Busan native with about 40 years of experience, presented her distinctive style and design philosophy at a fashion show held at 4 p.m. on the 29th, drawing acclaim from the audience.

Lee Mi-kyung introduced the concept for her Busan Fashion Week show, saying, “Using the finest materials and precise pattern analysis, I aimed to pursue refined designs and a style that is more aristocratic and dignified, yet functional for ease of movement and exudes exceptional elegance in every setting.”
Lee has helped set trends, including by presenting fashion shows at events such as the Busan International Footwear, Textile and Fashion Exhibition, a priority initiative of Busan Metropolitan City. She is also at the forefront of revitalizing the local fashion industry, having served as chair of the Busan Fashion and Textile Industry Business Cooperative in 2011.
The event is open to everyone, including industry professionals, citizens, and domestic and international tourists, free of charge.
Each fashion show has 300 seats, and standing room is available when all seats are occupied. Advance registration and the detailed schedule are available on the official Busan Fashion Week website.
