According to Kakao Pay on the 29th, Kakao Membership subscribers who pay with Kakao Pay Money at offline stores can earn up to 2% in additional membership-exclusive points on top of the basic points. These can also be combined with existing discounts, such as “Good Deal.”
Benefits are also available online. When customers buy products through KakaoTalk Deal or KakaoTalk Gift, they earn 0.5–5% in Shopping Points (up to 20,000 points per month), plus up to 1% in additional Kakao Pay Points. The monthly limit for additional Kakao Pay Points is 50,000 points across online and offline purchases.
The financial subsidiaries have also joined the membership benefits program. As a first-time signup benefit, Kakao Pay Securities randomly awards domestic stocks worth 4,900 won to membership subscribers aged 19 or older.
Kakaopay Insurance Corp. offers mobile phone damage insurance that covers up to 70,000 won once a year. Subscribers are automatically enrolled in the insurance when they join the membership program, and duplicate coverage is available even to those who already have phone insurance.
Kakao Pay is also pursuing closer integration between its AI ecosystem and financial services. Kakao Pay CEO Shin Won-geun outlined plans to expand AI-to-AI (A2A) collaboration across financial services, including linking Kakao’s in-house AI, Kanana, with the payment-related Model Context Protocol (MCP), as well as providing integrated transaction history, spending analysis and benefit-finding features.
The group is also continuing its collaboration on digital asset businesses, including won-pegged stablecoins. Kakao Pay is exploring ways to connect with various business areas across the group through a task force (TF) formed with Kakao Corp. and KakaoBank Corp. It is also building partnerships with global digital asset infrastructure companies such as Circle and Fireblocks.
A Kakao Pay representative said, “We are further strengthening our ties with the ecosystem centered on KakaoTalk,” adding, “We will continue to provide new platform-based financial service experiences through the reciprocal use of Kakao and Kakao Pay services.”
