[Financial News] LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A) is moving to expand defense cooperation with Croatia, including the development of a multilayer air defense network.
LIG D&A said on the 29th that Croatian Economy Minister Ante Šušnjar visited its research and development (R&D) center at Pangyo House in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province, on the 28th to discuss defense cooperation.
The visit was arranged to assess LIG D&A’s air defense system capabilities and explore concrete opportunities for cooperation between the two countries’ defense companies.
LIG D&A introduced a multilayer air defense solution tailored to Croatia’s security environment. It explained its capabilities for building an integrated air defense system that can counter threats approaching at various altitudes, from low to high, and conveyed its willingness to cooperate in defending Croatian airspace.
The Croatian side also outlined the possibility of technological cooperation and joint projects with its domestic defense firms. Minister Šušnjar introduced Croatian companies developing advanced technologies such as military communications networks and unmanned systems, and proposed industrial ties between companies from the two countries.
Minister Šušnjar said, “Croatian companies are developing advanced technology solutions, including military communications networks and unmanned systems, and their capabilities could provide an excellent foundation for new joint projects,” adding, “Such cooperation will greatly help strengthen our domestic industry, drive the development of manufacturing, and create new export opportunities.”
LIG D&A plans to step up its push into the European air defense systems market following the visit. It aims to broaden the scope of cooperation beyond supplying weapons systems to include technological cooperation and joint development with local companies.
Baek Hyeong-sik, head of LIG D&A’s overseas business division, said, “We hope LIG’s proven multilayer air defense system technology will help strengthen Croatia’s defense capabilities and protect its airspace, and that close cooperation will open new horizons for defense cooperation between the two countries.”
