[Financial News] A man who saw a wedding invitation from a colleague found himself in a dilemma when he realized the bride-to-be was his ex-girlfriend, whom he had broken up with two years ago. Neither his colleague nor his ex knows that he and the bride-to-be used to be a couple, leaving him unsure whether to attend the wedding.
On the 27th, a man’s dilemma was posted on Remember, an online community for office workers, under the title “My colleague’s bride-to-be is my ex-girlfriend.”
The man who wrote the post, identified as A, said the people involved did not know that he had dated the bride-to-be in the past. “Neither my colleague nor my ex-girlfriend knows about this,” he said.
According to A, B, who works at the same company, recently shared the news of his upcoming wedding and handed out an invitation.
When A saw a familiar name for the bride on the invitation, he initially assumed it was a coincidence and that someone else had the same name.
Thinking it was possible, A asked B for a digital invitation and was shocked when he saw the photo in the link. The bride-to-be was a woman he had been romantically involved with in the past.
“I wondered if this could be real,” A said of the unexpected situation. “We dated for more than three years, and it’s been a little over two years since we broke up, but her face is still vivid in my mind. She hasn’t changed, except that she’s even prettier than when I knew her.”
He was also troubled by the fact that B and the bride-to-be had no idea they were connected through A.
A said he had been at his current workplace for about a year and had not disclosed where he worked on social media either.
A said it was unlikely his ex-girlfriend knew he had changed jobs. “My ex-girlfriend wouldn’t even dream that I work at the same company as the man who’s going to be her husband,” he said. He added, “Of course, my colleague, who’s going to be the groom, doesn’t know either.”
He also found it difficult to decide whether to attend the wedding. A said he felt awkward about not going because he works closely with B, but he also did not want to attend a wedding where his ex-girlfriend would be the bride.
What made him even more uneasy was that, during their relationship of more than three years, he had also gotten to know his ex-girlfriend’s parents and friends.
“If I don’t go to the bride’s waiting room, how often would she even see the guests?” A thought. But he worried that they might run into each other by chance, saying, “I know my ex-girlfriend’s parents, and I know some of her friends, too.”
In the end, A decided not to attend, saying he had other plans on the day of the wedding.
Even so, he was still curious about how his ex-girlfriend, whom he had not seen in a long time, was doing.
“I do wonder if I’m crazy. Whether she’s doing well, whether she’s happy, and how pretty she might be,” A said, admitting that he was curious about what his ex-girlfriend was like now.
Speaking about the unexpected turn of events, he said, “I can’t believe something like this happened. I never imagined we’d meet this way.”
