[Financial News] It has emerged that A, a former head of the production company behind the drama 'Big Bet,' is missing and that police have launched an investigation. A was reportedly named in a police complaint filed by a company he recently worked for that alleged he had embezzled 1.5 billion won.
According to the Chosun Ilbo on the 28th, police have launched an investigation after A, the former CEO of Arc Media (now Scene & Studio), which produced the Disney+ drama 'Big Bet,' had been missing for four months. Since a police complaint has been filed against A on suspicion of embezzlement, police are investigating the possibility that he deliberately went into hiding, as well as the possibility that an accident occurred.
A previously worked as a producer at a terrestrial broadcaster and entered the drama production field after founding a content production company in 2019. In particular, A served as CEO of Arc Media (now Scene & Studio), which produced the Disney+ original series 'Big Bet,' among others. A was later recruited in 2025 as an inside director at auto parts company B, which was seeking to expand its entertainment business.
A reportedly had not returned home for an extended period since early July, and his family filed a missing-person report. The Gyeonggi Ilsan West Police Station, which received the report, is tracking his movements captured on CCTV and his phone's last known location to establish his whereabouts.
The investigation became more complicated at the end of July, when a police complaint was filed against A on suspicion of embezzlement. Company B, where he had served as an inside director, filed a complaint with police, alleging that A had embezzled 1.5 billion won in company funds. Because he became a suspect, police could no longer provide his family with information related to the search for him. The embezzlement case is being investigated by the Seoul Seongdong Police Station.
It has not been confirmed whether A's disappearance is connected to the embezzlement case. Police are investigating while keeping open the possibilities that he fled to avoid the investigation or was involved in an unforeseen accident.
