North Gyeongsang Province and the Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization (hereafter, the organization) will rename Gyeongju Expo Grand Park as Gyeongju APEC Memorial Park and open it free of charge for 10 days, from the 30th through November 8.
According to the province and the organization, the park was renamed to preserve and make use of the achievements of the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting as a local tourism resource and to reflect its status as the host site of the summit.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo stressed, “Gyeongju APEC Memorial Park will be a place that remembers the success of the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting and carries its values into the future,” adding, “I hope many people will visit the park during the free admission period and enjoy the feel of autumn together.”
The opening ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on the 31st near the main gate of Gyeongju APEC Memorial Park. About 100 people, including officials from the provincial government, the North Gyeongsang Provincial Council, Gyeongju City, tourism-related organizations and industry, will attend and unveil the signboard.
During the free admission period, anyone can visit the park without paying an entrance fee. The province expects the free admission to increase the number of park visitors.
Meanwhile, the province and the organization are moving forward with plans to open an APEC Summit memorial hall and create a climate-response themed forest, planned for December 2026. They plan to operate the park as both a symbolic space that keeps the summit’s memory alive and a leading tourist attraction.
