[Financial News] BTO has begun taking concrete steps with local governments across South Gyeongsang Province to build a tourism ecosystem in the South Coast region.
BTO said on the 29th that it had recently signed a three-party MOU with Namhae County in South Gyeongsang Province and the Namhae Foundation for Tourism and Culture to promote super-regional tourism between Busan and Namhae and foster mutually beneficial regional development.
The agreement was pursued to connect the institutions’ outstanding tourism resources in an integrated way and, in line with the government’s super-regional tourism policy, pursue various measures to attract tourists and boost regional tourism.
Under the agreement, the three institutions will undertake joint super-regional tourism marketing linking Busan and Namhae based on government policy, as well as joint promotional activities. They also agreed to strengthen their collaborative network through joint domestic and international marketing to attract tourists and MICE events, sharing tourism policy trends, and personnel exchanges.
BTO President Lee Jeong-sil emphasized, “Busan’s MICE, shopping and marine-city infrastructure and Namhae’s pristine nature, healing and wellness resources are not substitutes for one another but perfect complements. If the two regions create shared brand value around ‘the meeting of the sea and healing’ and turn day-trip tourism into overnight stays, they will create a new growth model for South Korean tourism that represents the southern region.”
Meanwhile, in connection with the agreement, the three institutions held a Namhae Vision Forum seminar. Local tourism businesses, academics and residents took part, exchanging views on the realities of regional tourism and the direction of its development and building consensus on the need for tourism cooperation between the two regions.
