BEXCO said on the 29th that it held the ‘BEXCO Waste Banner Upcycling Product Handover Ceremony’ on the 28th at the office of the Suyeong Paldo Market Merchants’ Association.
The donation initiative involved turning discarded banners generated after MICE events held at BEXCO throughout the year into household goods and delivering them to a local traditional market. It was organized to reduce waste and put into practice the values of resource circulation and mutual growth with the local community.
To this end, BEXCO sorted recyclable discarded banners and upcycled them into 200 cooler bags and 100 egg baskets. The items are to be distributed through the Suyeong Paldo Market Merchants’ Association to citizens who use the market and to merchants.
BEXCO CEO Jun-Seung Lee said, “It is meaningful to be able to promote mutual growth with local traditional markets through resource circulation using discarded exhibition banners,” adding, “Going forward, alongside facility improvements that fundamentally reduce banner generation, we will continue social contribution activities that make the most of the characteristics of the MICE business.”
Meanwhile, BEXCO is also focusing on improving its eco-friendly infrastructure, including expanding LED signage in its exhibition halls, to fundamentally reduce the use of banners during MICE events.
