[Financial News] Dongwon Development said on the 29th that it had held a Safety and Health Pledge Ceremony at its headquarters in Suyeong-gu, Busan, on the 28th, inviting representatives of partner companies to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and reaffirm its commitment to safety and health.
The event was organized to proactively respond to the recently strengthened industrial safety policy direction of the government and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, prevent industrial accidents at construction sites at their root, and establish a voluntary safety culture. It aimed to strengthen the foundation for substantive safety cooperation by fostering a shared sense of responsibility between prime contractors and partner companies on the basis of equal partnership.
The event proceeded with opening remarks by Dongwon Development CEO Park Young-bong, a special lecture by Kim Seung-han, former head of the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s Changwon District Office, on the safety management duties and roles of partner-company representatives and site managers, the reading of a resolution to raise safety awareness, slogan chanting, and a group photo.
Mr. Kim, the former district office head, emphasized in his lecture the importance of establishing a site-centered safety and health management system and communication among partner companies.
During the subsequent reading of the safety resolution, participants pledged to undertake practical measures to create a safe working environment, including identifying hazards at construction sites in advance and addressing them immediately, making compliance with basic safety rules a daily practice, and actively guaranteeing workers’ right to stop work when dangerous situations arise, transcending the boundaries between prime contractors and subcontractors. The partner-company representatives and employees in attendance chanted slogans and united in their strong commitment to achieving accident-free worksites.
CEO Park said, “Ensuring safety at construction sites requires not only multifaceted safety management efforts by prime contractors but also stronger independent safety management capabilities and active participation by partner companies,” adding, “The safety of our partner companies is Dongwon Development’s sustainable competitive advantage and its highest priority—a value that cannot be traded for anything.”
