[Financial News] The first frost of the fall was observed in Seoul on the 29th, as subzero temperatures arrived in several inland areas across the country. Temperatures are expected to rise to 12–19°C during the day, but rain will begin in the northern capital region and Gangwon from the afternoon. Rain is forecast for Seoul from tonight, so those heading home late should take an umbrella.
According to weather information released by the Korean Meteorological Administration at 6:20 a.m. today, Seoul’s first frost appeared one day later than last year and one day later than average, respectively. Morning temperatures in Dunnae, Hoengseong County, and Bongpyeong, Pyeongchang County, in Gangwon State, fell to −4.7°C. The administration said cold air moving in from the northwest had brought temperatures in several inland areas below freezing.
Temperatures will rise during the day, easing the cold somewhat. However, the difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures is expected to reach 10–15°C, particularly in inland areas nationwide, so people should take care of their health.
Rain will begin this afternoon. According to a weather briefing released by the Korean Meteorological Administration at 4:30 a.m. today, rain will start between noon and 6 p.m. in the northern capital region and the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon State. Between 6 p.m. and midnight, rain will also fall in parts of the rest of the central region, including Seoul, as well as in western Jeolla, the northern inland areas of North Gyeongsang, and Jeju Island.
Rain will continue through dawn on the 30th in southern Gyeonggi, the southern inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon State, the Chungcheong region, and the southern regions. Some parts of Jeju Island will see rain through the morning of the 30th.
Forecast precipitation for the 29th–30th is highest in Incheon, northwestern Gyeonggi, and the Five West Sea Islands, at 5–20 mm. Seoul and northeastern and southern Gyeonggi are expected to get 5–10 mm, while inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon State will get around 5 mm.
Rainfall of 5–10 mm is expected in Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong, the Honam region, and Jeju Island. North Chungcheong is expected to get around 5 mm, while less than 5 mm is forecast for inland areas of Daegu and North Gyeongsang, as well as Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang.
As rain falls, some areas, particularly along the central west coast, may see gusts, thunder, and lightning. Roads may become slippery and visibility may be reduced in areas experiencing rain, so drivers should take care.
Strong winds may blow in the mountainous areas of Gangwon State and along the east coast from tonight through dawn on the 30th, with gusts reaching around 55 km/h. A marine weather advisory may also be issued for the far offshore waters of the central East Sea.
The weather will differ on Saturday and Sunday this weekend. On Friday the 30th, skies will be mostly cloudy nationwide, becoming partly cloudy at times from the morning. The morning low is forecast at 5–13°C, with a daytime high of 16–21°C.
On Saturday the 31st, skies will be mostly clear nationwide before clouding over from the evening. The morning low will be 2–12°C, and the daytime high will be 13–21°C.
On Sunday, November 1, rain will begin in the central west coast and the Jeolla region from the afternoon, spreading to most parts of the country by night. The morning low is forecast at 1–10°C, with a daytime high of 11–17°C.
