[Financial News] Kolmar Korea has developed South Korea’s first hyaluronic acid powder that dissolves and is absorbed when sprayed onto the skin and rubbed in.
According to industry sources on the 29th, Kolmar Korea has successfully developed a “hyaluronic acid powder” formulation, turning hyaluronic acid into a spicule-shaped powder, and obtained a patent for the related technology. It is the first time in the cosmetics industry that hyaluronic acid, used to moisturize the skin, has been made into a pointed form.
After about four years of research, Kolmar Korea developed a process for hardening hyaluronic acid particles into crystals and making them into a pointed powder measuring 250 μm (micrometers). The pointed crystals come into contact with the skin’s surface and help active ingredients be absorbed. Because hyaluronic acid dissolves in water, it dissolves on the skin and is absorbed without irritation. The company says the formulation improves on the limitations of insoluble spicules in the form of microneedles.
To use it, apply the powder to the skin and gently rub it in with your hand. It dissolves completely, so there is no need to wash it off. Tests showed that its moisturizing effect lasted up to 62% longer than that of conventional creams.
Kolmar Korea plans to launch skin care products using the new formulation. It also plans to develop products containing functional ingredients such as retinol, Centella asiatica extract and allantoin, which are effective in soothing the skin and improving skin texture. The company will also expand the formulation’s use to products such as serums, creams and mists.
A Kolmar Korea representative said, “We have successfully developed a new formulation based on the formulation stabilization and delivery technologies we have built up in the skin care field,” adding, “We will continue to lead the K-skincare market with innovative technologies that allow consumers to experience the benefits for their skin.”
