[Financial News] The number of customers who received dividends from Shinhan Investment & Securities rose 31% in two years. Samsung Electronics had the most dividend recipients among domestic stocks, while Nvidia led among overseas stocks.
As demand for investing to secure cash flow through dividends grows, dividend investing is expanding, centered on leading domestic and international stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
Shinhan Investment & Securities said on the 29th that an analysis of its customer data showed that 1.43 million customers received dividends from January to September this year.
The number of dividend recipients grew from 1.09 million in 2024 to 1.22 million in 2025, then reached 1.43 million through the third quarter of this year. That was an increase of about 31.2% compared with 2024.
Samsung Electronics was the domestic stock with the most dividend recipients from January to September this year. SK Hynix and Hyundai Motor ranked second and third, respectively. Among overseas stocks, Nvidia ranked first, followed by Apple, Alphabet A and Microsoft.
The stocks with the most dividend recipients included large-cap companies with strong market prominence and high investor interest. However, this ranking is based on the number of customers who received dividends and should be distinguished from rankings by dividend amount, investment return or dividend yield.
Among domestically listed ETFs, TIGER US S&P 500 ranked first. Samsung KODEX 200 ETF and KODEX US Nasdaq 100 ranked second and third, respectively. Among overseas-listed ETFs, INVESCO QQQ TRUST had the most dividend recipients, followed by SCHWAB US DIVIDEND EQUITY and SS SPDR S&P 500 TRUST.
Products tracking major US indices ranked near the top among domestic and overseas ETFs. The findings also showed that a group of investors uses index ETFs to invest in overseas stock markets while receiving distributions.
Customers aged 31 to 60 accounted for 65.9% of dividend recipients from January to September this year. Among individual age groups, those aged 51 to 60 were the largest group, followed by those aged 31 to 40 and 41 to 50. In particular, the 51-to-60 age group also had the largest increase in customer numbers compared with last year's full-year figure, making up a notably large share of dividend investors.
The number of dividend recipients also rose among younger people. Compared with last year's full-year figure, the number of customers aged 11 to 20 who received dividends from January to September this year increased by 27.9%, while the number aged 21 to 30 rose by 25.0%. The combined increase for the two age groups was 26.2%.
The rise in dividend recipients was seen mainly among middle-aged and older customers, but was also evident among younger investors. However, this year's figure covers the cumulative period from January to September, while the comparison is with last year's full-year figure, so the difference in reporting periods should be taken into account when interpreting the growth rate.
Shinhan Investment & Securities also offers its Dividend Planner service to meet dividend investors' needs for managing their investments. The service is designed to let users check at a glance the dividend status of their holdings, expected dividend payments and dividend schedules.
A Shinhan Investment & Securities representative said, "There are many factors to consider when investing in dividend stocks, including the dividend record date, share-price declines around the ex-dividend date, and comprehensive taxation of financial income from dividends. Since it is important to consider long-term dividend growth rather than short-term capital gains, we hope the Dividend Planner service will help with your investments."
