[Financial News] MBC TV entertainment program “I Live Alone” made actor Kim Min a topic of conversation. He said people began showing up after his home in Dongducheon was featured on the show, and spoke of the difficulties this has caused.
Kim Min appeared on “Radio Star” on the 28th and shared an update on his life since appearing on “I Live Alone.” He had previously attracted considerable attention on the show, which aired last month, for his life in an approximately 90-year-old house in Dongducheon, Gyeonggi Province.
Viewers took a keen interest in Kim Min using a generator for electricity, making chairs with woodworking in his yard, and repairing the house himself with cement.
Speaking about the reactions he had received, Kim Min said on the show that day, “People I’ve worked with said, ‘Is your house really like that? Let’s have a meal together.’” He then described the difficulties, saying, “People keep coming to that house. A car comes in, they look around, and then they leave. Even when I try to secure the place, they seem to know everything.”
Kim Min said, “That place—my house in Dongducheon—is a good space for me,” and opened up about his experience: “In New Zealand, where I studied abroad, there were fewer people, so I had more chances to be by myself. There was nobody nearby, but it’s difficult in Korea.”
He also said, “When I lived abroad, I did all kinds of things. I even lived in a car for a while.” He continued, “There wasn’t any light or hot water in the car back then, was there? I’d go to a library, charge up and use a laptop, wash up at a shower facility, and then go somewhere with Wi-Fi and use it. So I don’t find my life now uncomfortable either.”
This is not the first time a star’s private space, shown on an entertainment program, has become the subject of privacy violations. Singer Lee Hyori and her husband, Lee Sang-soon, also spoke of the difficulties they faced after their home on Jeju Island was revealed on JTBC’s “Hyori’s Homestay,” whose first season aired in 2017 and second season in 2018.
