[Financial News] Meritz Securities has introduced 14 online-only equity-linked securities (ELS) based on major domestic and overseas stock indices and individual stocks. It has also expanded eligibility to subscribe, previously limited to individual customers, to include corporate accounts.
On the 29th, according to the financial investment industry, the “Meritz Super ELS No. 700” launched by Meritz Securities is based on the KOSPI 200, Nikkei 225 and Standard & Poor’s (S&P) 500. It offers returns of up to 11.61% per year if conditions are met and has a three-year maturity. Early redemption is assessed every four months after subscription.
Even if the product is not redeemed early by maturity, it will pay the principal and the agreed return if the closing prices of all the underlying assets are at or above the maturity redemption threshold, or if none of the assets has fallen below 35% of its initial reference price—the knock-in level—during the investment period. However, if the maturity redemption conditions are not met and any underlying asset has fallen below the knock-in level, a loss of principal may occur. The loss could amount to the entire principal.
It also launched six stock-linked ELS products and seven index-linked ELS products. These include monthly payout products that pay the agreed return each month and lizard-type products that offer additional early redemption opportunities. The minimum subscription amount for all 14 products is 100,000 won, and subscriptions are open until noon on the 6th of next month.
Meanwhile, in April last year, Meritz Securities launched six online-only “Super ELS” products for the first time, beginning mobile-based ELS sales.
