\ \ [Financial News] Through a range of social contribution activities, KB Financial Group created more than 2.5 trillion won in social value through the third quarter of this year.
\ \ KB Financial Group said on the 29th that it generated 903.7 billion won in social value in the third quarter of this year. The cumulative total for the year reached 2.5663 trillion won.
\ \ KB Financial Group calculates the social impact of its environmental, social and governance (ESG) management activities across its financial and non-financial operations in monetary terms and announces the results every quarter. This latest announcement reflects achievements in social contribution. The overall social value, including achievements in corporate governance, is scheduled to be included in a social value report to be published next year.
KB Financial Group is focusing on financial support to ease the debt burden on vulnerable groups. Through its KB Hope Finance Centers, which operate at six locations nationwide, it guides customers struggling to repay their debts through debt adjustment procedures and policy finance products. It also connects them with professional psychological counseling to help address depression, anxiety and helplessness stemming from debt problems, and support their return to economic activity.
In July, it also introduced a special debt relief program that reduces by up to 90% the principal on special claims held against socially vulnerable groups, including recipients of basic livelihood benefits and near-poor households.
\ \ It also participates in the 1,000-Won Breakfast program, which provides breakfast to university students, and the Hearty Lunch for Workers program for employees of small and medium-sized businesses in regional areas. In addition to offering savings products exclusively for young people, it uses programs such as the Saehuimangholssi Loan and Miso Microfinance to help young people in need of financial support achieve stability in their daily lives and build a foundation for independence.
It is also expanding support for small and medium-sized businesses and local communities. In June, it contributed 10 billion won to the Fund for Win-Win Cooperation between Large and Small Businesses to support mutually beneficial growth between large companies and small and medium-sized businesses. It is also helping communities affected by disasters return to everyday life, including by donating funds for recovery in areas damaged by torrential rains.
A KB Financial Group official said, "We will continue to practice inclusive finance and expand tailored support for each group so that young people, small and medium-sized businesses, small business owners and local communities can grow together."
