According to HS Hyosung The Class on the 29th, trainee Im Ha-neul of Jukjeon Service Center placed first, and trainee Hong Chan-young of Seocho Service Center placed second. Kim Woo-su, deputy general manager in the paint department at Jukjeon Service Center, was named Best Trainer in the same category.
German media visited Jukjeon Service Center in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, on the 27th as part of a program arranged by the Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI). The visit was to see how Ausbildung has been applied at auto repair shops in Korea and has helped produce outstanding talent. The media covered the training model, which links school education with hands-on workplace training, and its results, and interviewed trainees Im Ha-neul and Hong Chan-young, Deputy General Manager Kim Woo-su, and Ham Jeong-woo, a trainee in the bodywork division at Jukjeon Service Center who joined the company in September this year and is undergoing training.
Ausbildung is a German-style vocational education program that develops technical professionals by combining theoretical instruction at school with practical training at companies. In Korea, seven German premium automotive brands participate in the program. HS Hyosung The Class has participated since the first cohort in 2017 and is now running the program for its 10th year. To date, 16 trainees from cohorts 1 through 5 have completed the program, while 17 trainees from cohorts 6 through 10 are currently receiving training. The 10th-cohort trainees selected this year are also taking part in on-the-job training.
HS Hyosung The Class also participates in training programs such as AET and Mobile Academy in partnership with Mercedes-Benz Korea.
AET is a program for training automotive service specialists, adapted for the era of electrification from AMT, which began in 2006. Trainees are selected through exams and interviews, and receive both technical theory training on Mercedes-Benz vehicles and hands-on training at authorized service centers. The training is described as strengthening practical skills through instruction in electric vehicle maintenance and high-voltage systems.
Mobile Academy is Mercedes-Benz’s social-contribution education program, launched in 2014. It currently works with 10 universities across the country to provide students in automotive-related departments with basic and advanced theory and practical training. It also supports service center visits, career development workshops, visits to the company’s headquarters in Germany, and links to recruitment.
A representative of HS Hyosung The Class said, “Developing outstanding technical professionals is an important foundation for providing customers with consistent, high-quality service,” adding, “We plan to continue cultivating talented people with both expertise and practical skills through a range of educational programs and systematic, field-based practical training, while continually strengthening our service expertise to improve customer satisfaction.”
