[Financial News] The U.S. Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) officially unveiled its securities tokenization service (DTS).
According to the tokenized securities industry on the 29th, The Depository Trust Company (DTC), a subsidiary of U.S.-based DTCC, launched DTS (DTCC Tokenization Service), its securities tokenization service.
DTCC said the service was connected to Canton Network and its own private network, Besu Network, and that 20 DTC participant institutions, including JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup and Morgan Stanley, had signed agreements to use it.
On its service page, DTCC listed 34 types of securities that could be tokenized at launch. DTCC reportedly said these securities had a market capitalization of about $30 trillion (about 39.81 quadrillion won). In a press release, DTCC said assets held in DTC custody exceeded $114 trillion (about 151.278 quadrillion won) and that tokenized securities retain the same ownership rights, investor protections and economic rights as traditional securities.
The service tokenizes real-world assets to facilitate efficient asset transfers and their use as collateral, and supports the tokenization of 34 types of securities at launch.
DTS enables two-way conversion between traditional and tokenized securities, and investors can transfer them to designated digital wallets. More than 20 global financial institutions, including JPMorgan Chase, BNP Paribas and Mirae Asset Securities' U.S. arm, are currently participating.
DTCC explained that tokenized rights are subject to the same ownership rights, investor protections and economic rights as rights recorded through conventional methods.
The scope of eligible assets has not expanded to include all securities. Under a No-Action Letter issued by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in December 2025, assets DTC can tokenize include Russell 1000 constituents, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) tracking major indices, and U.S. Treasury securities.
Before the formal launch, DTCC tokenized assets held in DTC custody and used them in limited production transactions last July. More than 30 companies participated in a test at the time involving live transactions using assets held in DTC custody.
