【Financial News Daegu = Reporter Kim Jang-wook】“All clear for Halloween!”
Daegu Transportation Corporation (hereafter, the corporation) is preparing safety management measures and strengthening its on-site response to ensure citizens can use urban rail safely, as crowds are expected to gather around the club alley in Dongseongno from the 30th to the 31st during the Halloween period.
The corporation previously inspected on-site safety management at Banwoldang Station, a transfer station, jointly with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 28th. The inspection covered major areas expected to become congested, including platforms, stairs and transfer corridors, as well as the operating status of firefighting and disaster-prevention facilities, platform screen doors (PSDs), escalators and elevators, and ticket gates, and the deployment of safety personnel.
President Han Geun-su said, “Through the joint inspection with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, we checked on-site safety management conditions and reviewed what needed attention,” and stressed, “We will do our utmost to manage safety on site so citizens can use urban rail with peace of mind during the Halloween period.”
Ahead of the joint inspection with MOLIT, the corporation proactively conducted advance safety checks at a total of seven stations, including Jungangno Station near Dongseongno and the major transfer stations of Banwoldang, Myeongdeok and Cheongna Eondeok.
The corporation will also deploy 36 safety personnel, including its executives and employees and technical staff, at the site on the 30th and 31st, when crowds are expected to gather. They will respond to congestion by guiding passengers to spread out, managing the safe use of station facilities, and controlling ticket gates.
In addition, the corporation will implement passenger controls in stages according to congestion levels inside stations and prepare to deploy temporary trains and operate standby trains in case of emergencies or a sharp increase in passengers.
The corporation plans to maintain emergency communication channels with relevant agencies, including Daegu City, the district offices with jurisdiction, and police and fire authorities, so it can respond swiftly if a situation arises.
