[Financial News] The suspect in the Yeoksam-dong arson case in Gangnam District, Seoul, will be transferred to the prosecution office on the 29th. Police will announce the investigation findings before or after the transfer and disclose the suspect's personal information on the 3rd of next month.
Seoul Suseo Police Station said on the 28th that it would release the suspect from the police station at around 7:35 a.m. on the 29th and transfer the suspect to the prosecution office. It also plans to announce the investigation findings before or after the transfer.
Earlier, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency convened the Personal Information Disclosure Review Committee that day and decided to disclose the personal information of the suspect in the Yeoksam-dong arson case, which occurred on the 20th.
The committee determined that the seriousness of the harm and the brutality of the means used in the crime were established, and that there was sufficient evidence of the offense. It also considered the disclosure of the suspect's personal information necessary in the public interest, including to prevent repeat offenses and crime.
However, because the suspect did not state in writing that they had no objection to the decision to disclose their personal information, the information will be disclosed after the statutory waiting period.
Accordingly, police plan to post the suspect's personal information on the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency website for 30 days starting at 9 a.m. on the 3rd of next month.
