Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City (Gwangju Metropolitan City) is throwing its full support behind its home team, the Kia Tigers, as it hopes for a win in Games 3 and 4 of the 2026 KBO postseason playoff between the Kia Tigers and Samsung Lions, to be held at Gwangju-KIA Champions Field on the 29th and 30th.
The city plans to provide visitors with a comfortable game-day experience through support in several areas during the Kia Tigers’ home games, including transportation for visiting fans, cultural performances, tailored tourism promotion and traffic management around the stadium. It also aims to enhance the city’s image and maximize the boost to the local economy.
Gwangju Metropolitan City Mayor Min Hyung-bae emphasized, “We will make every effort to provide support in all areas so that both citizens hoping for a Kia Tigers win and visiting fans can enjoy the game safely.”
Gwangju Metropolitan City will first provide information on popular restaurants, traditional markets, major tourist attractions and accommodation discounts at key transportation hubs such as Gwangju Songjeong Station and U-Square, as well as at tourist information centers including Traveler’s House and Chungjang’s House. The city also plans to promote restaurants recommended by players and nearby tourist attractions through shuttle buses for visiting fans and online channels, helping boost local businesses and encourage repeat visits.
In addition, starting three hours before game time, street performances under the “Sports Culture Masil” program will be held at Gwangju Songjeong Station and May 18 Democracy Square. Moodlist, Jackpot Crew, Big Boss Marching Band and Denny & will take part, offering spectators a variety of entertainment.
In particular, “Moonlight Alliance shuttle buses” will run during the home games to make travel easier for spectators from other regions. Ten 45-seat buses will depart Gwangju-KIA Champions Field at the end of each game, run via Gwangju Bus Terminal and continue one way to KTX Gwangju Songjeong Station.  Attendants and safety personnel will also be stationed at the boarding area to oversee safety as passengers board and buses pull out.
Mayor Min said, “I hope you enjoy autumn baseball and savor Gwangju’s food and charms as well.”
Meanwhile, to prepare for traffic congestion on roads around the stadium, Gwangju Metropolitan City plans to suspend enforcement against illegal parking and stopping on game days from 4 p.m. until midnight. In coordination with the National Police Agency, it will also manage traffic signal operations and take other measures to ensure the safety of both vehicles and pedestrians.
