[Financial News, Chuncheon = Kim Gi-seop, Reporter] Gangwon Governor Woo Sang-ho will discuss the ninth popularly elected provincial administration, which has reached its 100th day, on a YouTube talk show and engage in two-way communication by answering residents’ questions.
According to Gangwon Province on the 28th, the province will release the online talk show “Hello, This Is Gangwon Province,” hosted by the governor, at 5 p.m. on the 29th on its official YouTube channel, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province TV. The first regular public-engagement series of the ninth popularly elected administration, it aims to move beyond the province’s previous promotional approach, which focused on briefings and press releases, and to share in a relaxed way stories that could not be fully covered in written materials.
The first episode, titled “Gangwon at 100 Days: What Has Gangwon Province Done?”, will cover policies from the past 100 days as well as candid stories from everyday life. A public official in charge of a national road expansion project will share behind-the-scenes stories from trips made to push for the project’s inclusion in national policy, while counselors at the provincial call center, who are often the first to hear residents’ concerns, will convey firsthand what residents are genuinely curious or dissatisfied about.
The province designed the talk show not as a one-off, but as an ongoing channel for communication, with residents’ participation carrying over to subsequent episodes. It plans to preview the next topic each time and exchange views through comments.
Governor Woo, who has broadened the scope of communication by operating a two-way forum with provincial government employees and engaging with the media, plans to begin holding meetings next year across the province’s 18 cities and counties. He will share his governing philosophy and policy direction with local media and municipal governments, and reflect feedback from the field in provincial administration.
Gangwon Province spokesperson Kim Yeong-ho said, “It is an opportunity for the governor to explain in straightforward terms stories about provincial administration that were difficult to fit into press releases, and to share the voices of residents gathered through the call center.” He added, “We will build on the questions and opinions posted in response to the topics previewed in each episode and work to make this a leading online channel where residents and the province can discuss provincial administration together.”
