[Financial News] The Korea-ASEAN Educators Conference (ACT+1), Asia’s largest international event for educators, will be held in Incheon, South Korea, in 2027. The Korean Federation of Teachers' Associations (KFTA) announced on the 28th that South Korea had been confirmed as the host of the 2027 conference at the 38th Korea-ASEAN Educators Conference, held in Singapore from the 22nd to the 25th. It will be the first time in 11 years that the conference has been held in Korea, following the 2016 event in Seoul.
The conference, to be held in Incheon over three days from September 2 to 4, 2027, will review the results of introducing artificial intelligence (AI) technology into educational settings and focus on exploring ways to cooperate internationally to restore the eroded authority of teachers.
In particular, KFTA plans to introduce a ‘Korean Special Session’ on ‘Responding to Infringements of Teachers’ Rights and Protecting Teachers’ Rights’ to share cases of such infringements and responses from major Asian countries, and to elevate the need to protect teachers’ rights to an international agenda. Following the conferences in the Philippines in 2025 and Singapore in 2026, participants will also assess practical, on-the-ground examples of using AI technology to reduce teachers’ administrative workload and support instruction, and discuss building a sustainable future education ecosystem.
At this year’s conference in Singapore, which concluded earlier, teachers in the South Korean delegation presented practical, classroom-focused examples of AI use, including streamlining lesson preparation and restoring teacher-student relationships, drawing strong interest from educators in participating countries. Teacher organizations from nine Asian countries concluded the conference by adopting a joint resolution calling for respect for teachers’ professional judgment and the use of AI as a tool to support educational activities.
Kang Ju-ho, president of KFTA, said, “This conference was a meaningful occasion that showcased the excellence of Korean education and the dedication of teachers in the field to the world.” He added, “I will make the 2027 Incheon conference a venue for sharing how AI innovation can strengthen teachers’ capabilities and an opportunity to introduce South Korea’s education system to the world.” \u00a0
