[Financial News] GS Retail’s liquor smart-order platform Wine25Plus has surpassed 200 billion won in cumulative order value, six years after its launch. Order value is continuing to grow at a double-digit rate this year, and the platform appears to be establishing itself as an O4O (Online for Offline) channel connecting online orders with pickup at physical stores.
According to industry sources on the 28th, Wine25Plus’s cumulative order value exceeded 200 billion won as of the end of last month. The service lets customers order liquor through mobile channels such as Our Neighborhood GS and KakaoTalk Gift, then pick it up at GS25 and GS The Fresh stores.
Order value from January to September this year rose 46.7% from the same period last year. The number of repeat customers also increased 32.1% over the same period, while about 100,000 new customers are being acquired annually.
Store pickup is also leading to additional purchases, according to the company. Among Wine25Plus users, about 25% at GS25 and about 50% at GS The Fresh made additional purchases while picking up their orders. About 20% of first-time Wine25Plus customers were found to have used the Our Neighborhood GS app for the first time as a result.
GS Retail will also hold a liquor expo, “Grand Tasting,” on the 29th at GS Tower in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul. Now in its fifth edition, the event will feature lectures on Chinese baijiu culture and Kweichow Moutai, as well as premium liquor tasting programs.
“Wine25Plus reaching 200 billion won in cumulative order value just six years after its launch is the result of building customer trust through a diverse range of liquor products and a convenient purchasing experience,” said Kim Yu-mi, team leader of Wine25Plus at GS Retail. “We will continue to improve customer satisfaction with differentiated products and services and further strengthen our competitiveness in the liquor smart-order market.”
