[Financial News] An opportunity has been created for people to experience firsthand the future of education for children growing up in the age of artificial intelligence (AI) and share their concerns about child-rearing and education policy.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education said on the 28th that it will hold the “2nd Seoul Education Parent and Citizen Participation Festival of 2026” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 31st at Art Hall 2 and the Conference Hall of Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Jung-gu, Seoul. About 5,000 people, including parents, students, school staff and members of the public, are expected to attend.
The event will feature a variety of programs, including AI and digital education experiences, parent counseling and lectures. At the AI and digital education experience area, visitors can try virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) platforms, interact with AI robots, or play gomoku and soccer with robots.
Counseling on child-rearing and career paths will also be available. Parents can take a parenting-style assessment and receive personalized counseling based on the results. They can also get career counseling for their children from a professional counselor or parent mentor. Brain scientist and professor Jaeseung Jeong is scheduled to give a special lecture titled “Why We Can Look Forward to Our Child’s Future in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
A total of 45 booths will be set up at the venue. Parent associations from 34 schools will offer hands-on activities such as balloon art, calligraphy and postcard making. The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will run five booths introducing parent learning communities, integrity policies and the student participation group. External organizations will set up six booths, including one offering education on preventing young people from falling victim to illegal private lending and another where visitors can try the Cyber Safe Zone app.
An event will also be held to share the achievements of the Seoul Education Citizen Participation Group. At a town hall meeting with Geun-sik Chung, superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, and members of the group, participants are expected to exchange views on education.
Geun-sik Chung, superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “Parents and citizens, as key stakeholders in education, are strong partners in Seoul education and a key driving force behind collaborative education,” adding, “I hope this festival will be a meaningful occasion for schools, families and the local community to communicate with one another and pool their wisdom to open up a bright future for our students.”
