[Financial News] Guro District, Seoul, is seeking residents for Dojeonsuk, public rental housing for young entrepreneurs. The housing provides both living and work spaces, and residents can stay for up to 10 years.
According to Guro District, applications are being accepted from the 28th through November 12 for 12 vacant units at Dojeonsuk in Oryu-dong.
Dojeonsuk means “a home that supports the dreams of people who take on challenges.” It is public rental housing for young entrepreneurs, located on the sixth and seventh floors of Gyerim West Valley, 70 Gyeongin-ro, Guro-gu, Seoul. Of the 43 units in total, 31 are currently occupied.
Unlike typical residential facilities, Dojeonsuk provides both living and work spaces, helping reduce housing costs for early-stage entrepreneurs and supporting stable business operations.
Applicants must be Seoul residents aged 19 to 39, inclusive, who are members of a one-person household and do not own a home, as of October 28, the announcement date. They must qualify as a one-person creative business owner, a prospective entrepreneur, a social entrepreneur or a prospective social entrepreneur, among other categories, and meet the previous year's average monthly income and asset criteria for urban workers.
The initial lease term is two years and may be extended up to four times following an evaluation before the contract expires. The security deposit and monthly rent vary depending on each unit's exclusive floor area and the applicant's income and assets.
Applicants can apply by submitting the required documents by email. After applications close, the district plans to announce the selected residents in January 2027, following document screening and checks of income and assets.
Guro District Mayor Jang In-hong said, “I hope Dojeonsuk will provide a solid foundation for young entrepreneurs to ease their housing burden and focus on starting their businesses,” adding, “We will continue to do our utmost to help young people settle down securely and pursue their dreams.”
