ChildFund Korea, a child welfare organization, said on the 28th that caster Jung donated 20 million won, including half of his appearance fee. ChildFund Korea and Jung held a donation handover ceremony that day at the Children’s Foundation Building in Jung-gu, Seoul.
While serving on the commentary team for TV Chosun’s “2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games,” caster Jung pledged to donate if South Korea won gold medals in both baseball and men’s basketball. After victories in both sports were confirmed, he fulfilled his pledge.
At this tournament, South Korea’s men’s and women’s 5-on-5 basketball teams won their titles together for the first time in 12 years, since the 2014 Incheon Games. The baseball team also won gold for the fifth consecutive time, dating back to the 2010 Guangzhou Games.
ChildFund Korea plans to use the donation to support the healthy growth of vulnerable children in Korea.
“As I covered the Asian Games, I watched the athletes’ sweat and passion up close, and I wanted to share that joy with the children,” Jung said. “I hope this donation will help the children grow up healthy.”
Shin Gyeong-geun, head of ChildFund Korea’s Sharing Marketing Division, said, “I’m grateful to caster Jung Yong-geum for not forgetting his pledge and turning it into a charitable contribution for children.”
