[Financial News] Samsung Electronics has held on to fifth place in the global brand value rankings for the seventh consecutive year. Stronger competitiveness in AI semiconductors and AI technology spreading across all business areas, including smartphones and home appliances, supported the rise in brand value. The strategy of turning improved semiconductor performance and product competitiveness into brand experiences that customers can feel was also viewed positively.
Samsung Electronics said on the 28th that it ranked fifth globally in the “2026 Global Top 100 Brands” announced by global brand consultancy Interbrand. Its brand value was calculated at $105.2 billion (about 141 trillion won), up 16% from the previous year.
Samsung Electronics has maintained the same ranking for seven consecutive years since first entering the global top five in 2020. It is the only Asian company among the world’s top five brands.
Factors cited as driving the increase in brand value in this assessment included focused investment in the semiconductor business and record-high results, stronger AI competitiveness in the Device eXperience (DX) Division, and a companywide customer-centric brand strategy.
The Semiconductor (DS) Division is expanding the supply of high-value-added memory products to meet surging AI demand. In particular, with mass production of the world’s first sixth-generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM4), it is seeking to secure technological leadership in the next-generation AI semiconductor market. The semiconductor business’s technological competitiveness and improved performance are believed to have also contributed to Samsung Electronics’ overall brand value.
The DX Division is applying personalized AI features to a range of products, including smartphones, TVs and home appliances, while strengthening connectivity between devices. By differentiating its products—including with the launch of the eighth-generation foldable smartphone Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, featuring a new form factor with a 4:3 screen ratio—it is broadening its consumer reach and boosting its brand competitiveness.
Samsung Electronics is also focused on connecting the competitiveness of individual products through a unified brand experience with its “One Samsung” strategy, which brings together capabilities across business divisions. The strategy aims to expand the company’s influence in global markets by strengthening an integrated, customer-centric brand experience beyond the performance of individual businesses.
Meanwhile, Interbrand selects the Global Top 100 Brands each year based on a comprehensive assessment of companies’ financial performance and future growth prospects, the influence of brands on consumers’ product purchasing decisions, and brand competitiveness.
