[Financial News] Emergency relief supplies were provided to on-site response personnel, including firefighters who worked through the night to extinguish the fire at Guryong Village in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
According to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association on the 28th, the association received an urgent request from the NFA on the afternoon of the 27th, when the fire broke out, and delivered supplies worth 10 million won. The support was intended to help crews deployed for prolonged firefighting operations rehydrate, prevent exhaustion and recover their strength.
The supplies comprised 1,068 items across 24 categories, including beverages such as bottled water, sports drinks and coffee; nutritious snacks such as beef jerky, smoked eggs, nuts and energy bars; cup noodles; and on-site maintenance supplies.
The fire broke out at around 3:49 p.m. on the 27th in the area of District 2 of Guryong Village, Gaepo-dong. Dry weather and strong winds caused the flames to spread, prompting a Level 2 firefighting response. The fire was fully extinguished at around 4:39 a.m. on the 28th, about 12 hours and 50 minutes later.
One person sustained minor injuries, and around 100 people from around 70 households were displaced, relocating to nearby temporary shelters and other locations.
Shin Hoon, secretary-general of Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association, said, “We delivered food and beverages immediately upon receiving the NFA’s request to help relieve the crews’ fatigue and maintain their strength, and we will actively support smooth recovery efforts at the scene.”
Meanwhile, through its firefighter support program, Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association provides items to improve working conditions, including turnout-gear washing machines and shoe dryers, and also helps establish rooms for rest and mental well-being after emergency calls.
