[Financial News] President Lee Jae Myung said on the 28th, referring to the record-high number of foreign tourists visiting South Korea, “I will ensure that people from around the world travel beyond Seoul to destinations across South Korea, and that this brings growth and vitality to the regions.”
President Lee said this in a post titled “The footsteps of people around the world bringing vitality to regional economies,” which he published on X (formerly Twitter) that day, writing, “As of yesterday, the number of foreign tourists who have visited South Korea this year had broken the all-time record.”
President Lee said, “The interest sparked by K-culture is leading to travel to South Korea,” and expressed his gratitude to foreign tourists who promote South Korea’s appeal around the world and encourage people to visit.
He went on to stress, “South Korea’s appeal is not limited to Seoul. Each region has its own unique nature, culture, food and stories.”
He added, “If these attractions lead more tourists to visit, they can also inject new vitality into regional economies,” and said, “Tourism is also an important opportunity to ease regional hollowing-out and the gap between the capital region and non-capital regions.”
