[Financial News] A platform is being established for consumers to directly assess the competitiveness of promising domestic SME brands. The aim is to identify K-brands that can succeed in overseas markets by reflecting actual consumer preferences as well as product technology and growth potential.
According to industry sources on the 28th, the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) will hold a nationwide online preliminary vote for the K-Brand Challenge grand final from the 5th to the 18th of next month.
The K-Brand Challenge is a program to identify consumer goods companies with strong growth potential and nurture them into exporters with global competitiveness. After preliminary, main and final rounds, a total of nine companies—three each in beauty, fashion and lifestyle—advanced to the grand final.
This preliminary vote is significant because consumers get to choose outstanding brands themselves. It goes beyond a simple expert assessment, allowing organizers to gauge consumer preferences in the actual market. The vote results will account for 20% of the final rankings in the grand final.
Anyone can vote on the GoBizKorea website. After reviewing the participating brands, voters can select one preferred brand in each of the beauty, fashion and lifestyle categories. Voting is open once a day, and a prize event will also be held.
The grand final, where the final rankings will be determined, will take place on the 24th of next month at Anderson C in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. It is the first event in K-Brand Glow Week, which runs through the 29th.
Glow Week will support product promotion and the expansion of domestic and overseas sales channels for promising SMEs, including companies taking part in the challenge. It plans to raise brand awareness and create tangible sales opportunities through one-on-one export consultations with overseas buyers and pop-up stores for consumers.
Companies advancing to the grand final will receive the Ministry of SMEs and Startups Minister’s Award and the KOSME Chairman’s Award, based on their final rankings in each category. Award-winning companies will also receive preferential treatment when applying for export support programs.
